Why are so many people against abortions?

I agree. People need to take the girls/womans personal circumstances into account - what if she was raped? What if she was completely disowned for getting pregnant in the first place? What if her partner pretended that he wore a condom? Abortion isn't murder - life does not begin at conception and it is absurd to think so.
