What is your opinion on the War on Terror?

I'm prior military. I served 4 years in the U.S. Army, and deployed once to Afghanistan. I was just wondering what people thought of the war? So many Americans demand the return of our troops, but Afghanistan is not ready for us to leave. They still cannot protect themselves. As is evident of the recent hotel bombing in Kabul. As much as it pains me to say. We are needed there. We fought for our freedom 200+ years ago. We won it. What message do we spread if we leave now. So many countries want what we have. Freedom, but freedom is not free. Enough blood has been spilled in the name of freedom to flood the world. What do you believe?
